We need to understand the consequences of what we actually do. There are many people in the Bible the reaped the consequences of what they did. If we look at Judas, he took the easy way out and sold out Jesus. After that his guilt caused him to commit suicide.
Sometimes in life we like to take the easy way out and not follow what God plans for us and as a result of that we have to face the consequences.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
